One intensive year later, he&#8217;s closer to answering it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why New York, and why now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before arriving, Shaked had already moved across a lot of ground. At Reichman University in Israel, he studied Business Administration and Entrepreneurship while working in tech and innovation, including on programs run with Google. Stints with startups and venture capital funds followed, then an internship at L&#8217;Or\u00e9al that pulled him into branding and consumer strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/\">New York<\/a>\u00a0was a deliberate choice for Shaked. He wanted an experience that combined a strong education with real international exposure and career access. IENYC&#8217;s focus on sustainability alongside business strategy was the deciding factor.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-4e8189195d5bd5fe52c538c326e60ca2 wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Today, companies are expected to think beyond profits, and I wanted to study something more forward-thinking than a traditional business degree.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The format sealed it: one intensive year in SoHo, an international cohort, and a front-row seat to the city&#8217;s startup and investment world.\u00a0<strong>No compromise between career and education. Both, at once.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"826\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.18.01.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52699 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.18.01.png 620w, https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.18.01-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inside the classroom, out in the city<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most important skills Shaked built at IENYC is translating data into strategy \u2014 not just financial analysis, but sustainability and long-term thinking that creates value for companies and investors alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With more than 90% of students from outside the US, every group project is a live version of what a global work environment looks like.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;It taught me how to adapt quickly, collaborate better, and lead international teams.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0That instinct has fed directly into his final project, where he&#8217;s been developing a startup concept from the ground up. Being in a city full of founders doing the same changes how the work feels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:22% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"611\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.19.47-1-611x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52704 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.19.47-1-611x1024.jpg 611w, https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.19.47-1-179x300.jpg 179w, https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/the-blueprint\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Screenshot-2026-07-29-at-12.19.47-1.jpg 760w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 611px) 100vw, 611px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The NYC factor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What Shaked didn&#8217;t expect was how open people would be once he started showing up.&nbsp;<em>&#8220;You can meet someone at a caf\u00e9, a networking event or even at a bar, and suddenly you&#8217;re talking about business ideas, careers or future goals. There&#8217;s a unique energy to this city that pushes people to grow.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That accessibility extends to founders and investors. Attending events across the city put him in rooms with people who were willing to go deep.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-7eb97ba62955d87dd7dc37e01c34d15a wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;I&#8217;ve had conversations with founders, investors and professionals who were open to sharing advice and experiences even though we&#8217;d just met. It taught me that in New York, relationships and opportunities are built by showing up, starting conversations and being willing to take initiatives.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting to work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the program began, Shaked has been plugging into startup and venture capital events, each one sharpening his idea of where he wants to land and what it actually takes to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building a career in the US as an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/international-students\/\">international student<\/a>&nbsp;is its own challenge. Beyond contacts and events, the cohort has been part of it too. The school&#8217;s ability to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/career-acceleration\/\">connect with professionals and companies<\/a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ienyc.edu\/\">New York<\/a>, combined with the academic experience, made the transition into building a career in the US significantly easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One year, a lot learned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Relocating, completing a master&#8217;s, and building a professional network in a single year is a lot to take on. For Shaked, the pressure has been clarifying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-135ecc56c7fa4d43a66d8da54661d3ba wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;I&#8217;ve learned that I&#8217;m much more adaptable than I thought. I learned how to handle uncertainty, stay focused under pressure and keep moving forward even when things are challenging. I think New York teaches you resilience very quickly.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What comes next is entrepreneurship, venture capital and global business.
