Applying to IENYC: Everything you need to know

Is applying to IENYC your next move, but unsure of where to start? We've got you covered.

Choosing where to study is a big decision. Choosing to study in New York City is an even bigger one. At IENYC, applying is more than submitting an application. It’s the first move in a personal and professional journey shaped by curiosity, ambition, and action in the city that never sleeps.

This guide will help you navigate the process with confidence, showing you what IENYC looks for in candidates and how to take that first step toward joining a global community of doers, disruptors, and creators.

Already admitted? Congratulations! Check out next steps here.

Why apply to IENYC?

At IENYC, we want to know who you are beyond your grades and experience. We are looking for ambition, creativity, grit, and the drive to make an impact. When reviewing applications, we consider:

  • Your academic interests and what excites you
  • Your professional journey and goals
  • How you collaborate and contribute to a team
  • Initiatives you’ve taken and the impact you’ve made

Our students come from all over the world, but they share a common trait: a willingness to challenge themselves, embrace NYC’s energy, and grow in a fast-paced, global environment.

When should you apply?

IENYC has rolling admissions, which means you can apply when you feel ready.

International students:

  • Spring intake (February start): aim to apply by October
  • Fall intake (September start): begin your visa process by April

Apply early whenever possible. Because the earlier you start, the smoother your path will be.

The IENYC application process: Step-by-step

Student applying to IENYC

Step 1: Complete the online application

Provide your personal, academic, and professional details along with supporting documents. This is your chance to share your story, ambitions, and why you want to learn in NYC.

Step 2: Declaration of Finances (international students)

You will eventually need to submit a Declaration of Finances (DCF) to get your Form I-20 for the F-1 visa. You don’t need it with your initial application, but it’s important to know what’s ahead.

Step 3: Application review

The Admissions Committee reviews your profile and typically responds within 7–10 days to let you know if you move forward.

Step 4: Personal interview

Think of this as a conversation. We want to understand your goals and see how IENYC’s environment in NYC will help you achieve them.

Step 5: Final admissions decision

You will receive a final decision within 10–15 days. If admitted, you’ll receive instructions on how to confirm your place and prepare for the next steps.

Your move starts here

Applying to IENYC is your first step into a city, a school, and a community that never stands still. Here, the streets of NYC are your classroom, every challenge is a lesson, and every connection is an opportunity. You won’t just learn—you’ll do, create, and grow in real, high-stakes settings that build your capability, grit, and confidence.

This is where ambition meets action. Where curiosity meets guidance. And where your next move could change everything. Take the step.

Make the move. Begin your IENYC journey and see just how far your potential can go.
